For all the bickering about the abortion issue during the 2022 midterm elections, perhaps Republicans would benefit from taking a step back and looking at the impact of the Dobbs Decision.

According to analysis, in the two months following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, an estimated 10,000 babies were saved from abortion. About 10,000 people are being allowed to live instead of having their lives intentionally ended by a doctor in the name of “choice.”

For that, we can rejoice.

A lot of political pundits and pro-life fakes lamented the fact abortion became an issue in 2022. They will claim the issue cost Republicans votes and damaged the GOP’s chances.

Perhaps they’re losing sight of what actually matters. Winning elections means a lot less than kids not being killed.

We’re constantly told that we can make all the pro-life laws we want, but the reality is abortions will not be stopped. Well, this certainly suggests otherwise. Pro-life laws obviously do save lives — an estimated 10,000 of them in two months, in fact.

It is easy to let reality get lost when discussing numbers. Election numbers. Abortion numbers. Life numbers.

But think about it — 10,000 new, unique human beings are being given their chance at life. They’re going to realize the reality of their own right to life. Ten thousand. This must also mean 10,000 women will not be scared from the horrors that often follow abortions. This means 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 or even 40,000 grandmas and grandpas will come to know their grandchildren. This means who knows how many brothers and sisters will have a new sibling.

Did the abortion issue hurt Republicans in 2022? Who cares. If it hurt, it’s only because we’ve done such a putrid job messaging it and, often, ran away from it instead of defending it.

If losing an election or two isn’t worth saving lives, then what good is winning elections?
