A resolution providing for the admission of Washington D.C. as a state has 160 Democrats supporting it. There are no Republican cosponsors.
H.R. 51 would provide D.C. statehood.
Democrat Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley filed a bill to establish a commission to study and consider a “national apology” and proposal for reparations for the institution of slavery.
That bill is H.R. 40.
