Last weekend former President Donald Trump spoke to a crowd of big-time GOP donors in New Orleans for over 80 minutes. In his remarks, Trump not only continued to perpetuate the big lie that the 2020 election was stolen, he also mused about using US bombers with Chinese markings to start WW III. In response, retired three-star Admiral Mike Franken, and Democratic candidate for the U.S Senate released a statement calling on Grassley to disavow his support for Donald Trump. Trump formally endorsed Grassley’s re-election bid last year. Franken issued the following statement:

“Donald Trump presents a clear and present danger to the future of our democracy at home and abroad,” said Franken. “Russian state media continues to air clips from Fox News personalities like Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson praising the war criminal Vladimir Putin. Trump’s lies tear apart our country and stoke the flames of derision during the most perilous international crisis we’ve seen in decades,” continued Franken.

“I call on Senator Grassley to stand on principle and repudiate any affiliation with Donald Trump. With all due respect, Senator Grassley, please admit that Donald Trump is a national security threat and distance yourself from his hate-fueled rhetoric. Frankly, if you don’t stand against him, then you stand with him.”

  1. The best move Grassley ever made was to heel at Trump’s side. Grassley has attacked Trump at every turn. Before Trump endorsed Grassley that night in Des Moines he talked about the stolen election, he talked about his grave disappointment in Brian Kemp after he endorsed him and he talked about the ridiculousness of renewable energy- then he had Grassley get up and “accept” his endorsement. The applause for Grassley was subdued and there was even booing.

Grassley is now under Trump’s thumb and he would do well to reign in his grandson, Pat.

  2. Grassley goes against who and what trump stands for. And Trump supporters know that. As supporters of truth and freedom, Trump supporters would welcome Grassley separating himself from Trump and we hope Trump will stop supporting Grassley, and come out strong for Jim Carlin, who is much more in support of truth and freedom. Now!!! President Trump, do it before the primary.
