Statement from Ryan Rhodes, GOP Fourth Congressional District candidate:
Our hearts in Iowa ache for the children murdered, the many wounded, and the parents, families, loved ones, classmates, teachers and neighbors who are left behind to mourn and to hold each other close. God, we pray, keep them.
And as we continue to pray for God’s mercy and grace, it’s also time to say: Enough.
Our country is in the midst of a mental health crisis that’s been popularized, glorified, legislated and shoved onto our children by the same people now telling us our prayers don’t help.
The Democrats’ claims that we can show love by embracing transgenderism are a lie, and they’re doing even more than actively harming those confused souls who believe it. Normalizing this sort of mental illness multiplies tragedies like Wednesday’s mass murder. The evidence is everywhere.
It’s time to fortify schools, arm willing teachers, and call this what it is: A severe mental illness, not a lifestyle to celebrate. Suffering people can be loved without their fantasies or fetishes or illnesses being encouraged or normalized.
Indeed, thoughts and prayers are not enough. It’s time to FIGHT BACK.
If the 4th District of Iowa elects me as their congressman, I will walk into Washington, D.C. with a bill that will ban all gender mutilation procedures, with severe penalties for those peddling this disgusting pseudoscience.
We’ll reclassify these as a mental health crisis and hold the American Medical Association and World Professional Association for Transgender Health accountable for enabling the devil’s agenda and harming our country.
We’ll call out the people spreading these lies. We’ll go after school districts and teachers that try to spread the lies in our classrooms. Teachers promoting this dangerous nonsense should be permanently barred from preying on kids. We’ll call it what it is because that’s what all our families need from us.
We need to stop the madness. We need to protect our children now.
