On Independence Day, we celebrate the founding of the freest and most prosperous nation in history.
In addition, we are celebrating recent rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court, especially the long-awaited overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The Court also upheld the First Amendment’s Free Exercise Clause in a case involving a Washington State high school football coach who prayed on the 50-yard line after each game, win or lose. Coach Joe Kennedy was represented by First Liberty Institute.
In another important ruling, the Court upheld the Second Amendment, striking down a New York law that made getting a concealed carry permit very difficult.
In all three of these cases, the Democrat-appointed justices voted against the majority. Anyone who still thinks elections are not important needs to rethink.
The United States has been a remarkable nation since its birth 246 years ago. We have overcome slavery, civil war, economic depressions and recessions, Jim Crow laws, defeated Nazism, Fascism and communism, come to the aid of people in crisis all over the world, and are still seen as the last, best hope on earth.
We have been blessed mightily by God, even if we have not lived up to our ideals in every case. I believe His hand is still on our nation as we work toward restoring righteousness and liberty across our land.
We hope you pause and thank God for our wonderful country as you gather with family and friends over the holiday weekend.
See you all next week on our regular call.
May God bless you and God bless America.
