A new Quinnipiac University poll shows 66 percent of Americans are hoping to avoid talking politics while visiting family and friends this Thanksgiving.

Twenty-one percent are looking forward to discussing politics.

Half of those surveyed said it is not likely at all they’ll get into a heated political debate. Twenty-four percent said it is not so likely. Fifteen percent said it is somewhat likely while nine percent said it is very likely.

This question cuts across all party lines too. Among Republicans, 68 percent are hoping to avoid political conversation. Sixty-nine percent of Independents and 66 percent of Democrats agree.
