To most media, leftist politicians, entertainers, many university professors and even public school teachers, the United States is incurably wicked and racist.

They see nothing good in a nation that has fostered unprecedented liberty and prosperity for 246 years. All they see is the stain of slavery and its ugly offspring, Jim Crow. They will not acknowledge decades of racial progress and the freedoms that have attracted millions of immigrants.

Neither will they acknowledge the true source of America’s greatness, which is the innumerable blessings bestowed by God.

This month, STAND is highlighting American greatness and the country’s incomparable Constitution – the guarantor of our God-given liberties.

We are doing this at a time of great peril. The ruling elites, including at the highest levels of the FBI, have shown they will ignore constitutional rights in their zeal to create a one-party, socialist state.

The shocking FBI raid on former President Trump’s home, Mar-a-Lago, was aimed not only at him but at anyone supporting his policies. Likewise, the ongoing persecution of Trump aides and anyone involved in the January 6 Capitol riot is a message that the powers-that-be will not brook any dissent.

In fact, they do their best to crush any difference of opinion on election integrity, COVID-19, climate change, and moral issues like marriage and abortion.

As a Marine veteran, husband, father, and pastor, I  find this kind of dishonesty and tyrannical behavior intolerable.

However, the American spirit is not so easily snuffed out, nor our people subjugated. This is a country that won two world wars, defeated communism, and has been a beacon of liberty to the world.

Recently, Russia’s former leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, died. Judging by media coverage, you would have thought that he had ended the Cold War on his own and that President Ronald Reagan’s “peace through strength” stance and determination to build the Strategic Defense Initiative (“Star Wars”) had nothing to do with it.

This is par for the course. Mr. Gorbachev did some good things, but he was still trying to preserve the Soviet Union’s communist system, a fact airbrushed out of many accounts.

Meanwhile, America, like Ronald Reagan, is judged for imperfections, not credited with triumphs, particularly defending human rights around the world.

We are in a strange era, in which people of ill will toward America – and toward Bible-believing Christians in particular – wield great power. They want us to forget our rich heritage, especially the indelible Christian influence on the nation’s founding.

We cannot let them get away with it. And we won’t. The antidote to lies is to tell the truth over and over and to motivate people to defend liberty.

With God’s help, we will restore our self-governing republic and preserve it for our children and grandchildren – and, God willing, for generations to come.
