The Ames Community School District is preparing for its Black Lives Matter Week of Action at School on Feb. 1-5.

According to documents on the website, Wednesday’s activities will include queer affirming, trans-affirming and collective value lessons.

Students preschool-second grade will be able to define words “transgender” and “nonbinary” and give examples of ways to support people of all gender identities.

Students in kindergarten-second grade will use creative, dramatic expression to consider not only the roots of gender stereotypes but also their consequences and strategies for counteracting them.
