Earlier today, Axios reported on a memo to House Republicans from Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), head of the Republican Study Committee, urging the GOP to focus its messaging on the very real concern of inflation. Consumer prices surged 4.2 percent in April — the most significant increase since 2008.

Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project, released the following statement in support of the strategy:

“Republicans would be wise to stay away from left-wing narratives and instead focus on what’s happening on the ground. Just a few months into his term, Joe Biden’s anti-working-class agenda is already crushing families. Prices are up across the board — gas, food, lumber, housing, you name it. Inflation isn’t some unavoidable phenomenon: it’s a policy choice, a regressive tax that hits those living paycheck to paycheck the hardest.

“Joe Biden thinks spending trillions of dollars on cushy salaries for woke government bureaucrats is the right way to approach our economy. He couldn’t be more wrong. Holding Biden and the Democrats accountable for their attacks on working-class families will be critical in 2022.”

RELATED: Schilling argued recently in The Daily Caller that Joe Biden’s “American Families” plan was a “big government takeover of the family” that is “throwing more money at a broken system.”
