Today, American Principles Project (APP) released results from a poll of likely Indiana voters showing majority support for legislation that would prohibit biological males who identify as transgender from competing in girls’ sports in K-12 schools. Most voters also disapproved of Governor Eric Holcomb’s move to veto this legislation late last month.

The poll, conducted by SPRY Strategies from March 28 to April 3, also gauged Indiana voters’ views on a number of other related issues. Some key findings include:

  • 64.5% support legislation banning biological males from competing in girls’ sports in K-12 schools
  • 53.1% disapprove of Gov. Holcomb’s veto of legislation protecting girls’ sports
  • 56.3% support legislation prohibiting teaching students in kindergarten through third grade about sexual orientation and gender identity in the classroom
  • 65.1% disapprove of allowing transgender-identifying minors to take puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones or undergo surgeries to change their sex

You can find the full polling results here.

You can read an APP memo outlining the important takeaways here.

APP President Terry Schilling also released the following statement:

“This polling definitively confirms what we already knew to be true: Indiana voters overwhelmingly oppose the woke gender ideology taking over our schools and our society.

They don’t want their daughters being forced to compete against biological males. They don’t want doctors and activists pushing their kids into sex change procedures. And they don’t want their young children subjected to instruction on sexual matters in schools.

“These issues ought to be no-brainers, even without polling. But astonishingly, there are still Republicans out there like Gov. Holcomb who believe they have no choice but to surrender to the woke left on these fights. Could it be they have been duped into thinking that protecting children from sexualization is a losing issue? Or might they be more concerned with preserving their hireability at plush corporate jobs after their careers in politics are over?

“Whatever the reason, voters will no longer accept this failed leadership. Across the country, lawmakers are finally acting to empower parents and defend families from woke extremism. And any Republican who continues to stand against this movement will soon find their political future cut short.”
