Tuesday night, Speaker Pelosi went on MSNBC and bragged about her Democratic colleagues’ refusal to work in a bipartisan fashion to provide additional relief funding for small businesses across the country. Pelosi even seemed giddy about the incident, saying, “I congratulate the Senate Democrats” after “they objected” to an additional $250 billion in funding for the Paycheck Protection Program.

Not only have Democrats delayed desperately-needed relief multiple times, but now they seem to be rubbing salt in the wounds of hard working Americans — celebrating the fact that small businesses won’t be getting the additional funding they need to keep workers on payroll.

It should go without saying that now is not the time for political games, let alone a time to celebrate partisan “victories.” But as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer continue putting politics before the American people, Reps. Cindy Axne, Abby Finkenauer, and Dem candidates Rita Hart and J.D. Scholten have been completely silent.

This crisis has caused thousands of Iowans hardship, but Iowa Democrats have stood idly by and allowed Pelosi and Schumer to get away with playing politics. After this latest disgusting example of Pelosi celebrating Democrats’ refusal to put people before politics, it’s worth asking: Will Iowa Democrats denounce their party leaders’ refusal to work in a bipartisan fashion to deliver relief for struggling business owners, workers, and families?
