Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents successfully foil three human smuggling attempts and apprehend 41 migrants exposed to dangerous conditions.

Friday night, Fort Brown Border Patrol agents working near Brownsville, Texas, attempted a vehicle stop on a black Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit came to an end when the driver abruptly stopped, and several subjects were seen fleeing the vehicle.  A search of the immediate area resulted in the apprehension of three migrants.

Later that evening, agents assigned to the Javier Vega, Jr. Checkpoint near Sarita, Texas, referred a semi-trailer to secondary inspection after a service K-9 alerted on the trailer. During the secondary inspection, agents encountered a total of 16 noncitizens concealed within the cargo area.  All 16 smuggled migrants were from Mexico.

On Saturday, Corpus Christi Border Patrol agents working train check duties near Agua Dulce, Texas, apprehended 22 migrants concealed inside a vehicle transport train cart.  All subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Corpus Christi Station for further interviewing.

All subjects are being processed accordingly.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
