President Joe Biden has moved one step closer to fulfilling his pledge to unite the country–by attacking parents. The president, whose primary qualification for office is that he isn’t Donald Trump, played to type on Tuesday by sending a mean tweet regarding something irrelevant to his job. Taking a play out of the Terry McAuliffe primer for how to lose a governor’s race, Biden called a Florida bill “hateful” for protecting parents’ rights and requiring age-appropriate classroom discussions. Perhaps it’s not the way he imagined, but the president has already convinced 58 percent of Americans that he’s doing a bad job, according to a new CNN poll.
Perhaps Biden’s sagging numbers are because, instead of solving inflation, mitigating the supply chain crisis, ending the labor shortage, securing the southern border, or defending American allies, he keeps meddling in issues that are none of his business. The amendment to Article II of the U.S. Constitution that would give the U.S. president authority to sign off on all state legislation before it becomes law has not been ratified, or passed, or even proposed. Instead of tackling America’s most pressing problems, Biden curates his agenda for one particular interest group. See if you can guess which one from his tweet:
“I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are. I have your back, and my Administration will continue to fight for the protections and safety you deserve.”
He didn’t say that his administration will also fight to undermine sexual norms so that his favorite identity group will continue to grow through relentless, K-12 indoctrination.
Biden’s wrath seems oddly disproportional to the bill’s inoffensiveness. Florida SB 1834 simply “allow[s] greater parental access to school information on their minor children; forbid[s] school districts from withholding information on children from their parents; prohibit[s] school districts from encouraging discussions of sexuality and gender identity for younger students; and lay[s] out ground rules for how school districts are to respect parental rights.” On “Washington Watch,” Family Policy Council President John Stemberger explained, “our opponents are calling this the ‘don’t say gay’ bill. It’s really a ‘don’t turn my son into a daughter’ bill.” It seems Biden’s anger is really because this bill prevents schools from hiding information from parents.
That’s exactly what happened to Florida parents Wendell and Maria Perez, whose 12-year-old daughter tried to hang herself two days in a row. It turns out the school was covertly “leading her into becoming a boy,” explained Stemberger. “The stress and the depression and the turmoil of all that just made her go over the top.” Her parents didn’t even learn their daughter was struggling until they got “a call from the emergency room.”
It’s absolutely true that children need love and acceptance. But guess what? “The vast majority of parents are going to love and unconditionally accept their kids,” said Stemberger. For the sad exceptions, “we have laws for that.” Children really need protection from the woke education officials who want to brainwash them into sexual confusion — years before they are mature enough to handle the topic at all. The parents who love them and raised them are the best judges of what a child is ready to learn. Ideologues and bureaucrats are not.
“There’s a very good chance this bill could pass,” said Stemberger, and Biden can’t do anything to stop it. The bill is working its way through state Senate committees right now. For the sake of parental rights and the well-being of children, let us pray that it passes both State houses and is signed into law by Governor DeSantis.
