President Joe Biden told the press today he wouldn’t take questions because he has a direct message to the American people. On Friday, Biden said his team is going on television to talk in more detail about what he said today.
Biden said Omicron is not spreading as fast in the U.S. as it would have if his administration did not take the steps it has taken.
“But it’s here now and it’s spreading and it’s gonna increase,” he said.
Biden said we are looking at a winter of “severe illness and death” for the unvaccinated.
“For themselves, their family and the hospital they’ll soon overwhelm,” Biden said. “But there’s good news. If you’re vaccinated, and you have your booster shot, you’re protected from severe illness and death, period.”
He added booster shots work and they’re “free, safe and convenient.”
“About 16 million people have been boosted, so go get your shot today,” Biden said. “Go get boosted.”
Biden said he wants to keep schools and businesses open and protect the economic recovery.
“Get your booster shots,” Biden said. “Omicron is here. It’s going to start to spread much more rapidly at the beginning of the year. And the only real protection is to get your shots.”
