U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an undocumented individual convicted of a sexual offense Tuesday afternoon.

Agents apprehended an undocumented individual minutes after illegally entering the United States in the desert area east of the city of Calexico. The individual was transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.

Records checks revealed that Benjamin Tirado-Jaramillo, a 54-year-old Mexican national, has an extensive criminal and immigration history. Tirado-Jaramillo was convicted and served 90 days in jail for touch for sexual arousal and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in Visalia, California.  He has additional convictions with time served for disorderly conduct, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a suspended license. Tirado-Jaramillo has also been previously removed back to Mexico.

U.S. Border Patrol agents will process Tirado-Jaramillo accordingly.

Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested and/or removed 33 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges.
