A biological male emerged as the first transgender woman to win a female beauty pageant.

Kataluna Enriquez won the Miss Silver State USA pageant and advances to compete for Miss Nevada USA pageant.

Should Enriquez win the Miss Nevada title, he would be eligible to compete for the Miss USA title. That winner then goes to compete for the title of Miss Universe.

In an interesting spin, Enriquez claimed his victory at the Miss Silver State USA pageant was “a celebration of womanhood.”
