The Black Hawk County Public Health Department is incentivizing residents to get injected with the experimental COVID-19 shots. The incentive program includes a raffle of 20 $50 gift card baskets.

Four prizes will be drawn every Friday in July. The program is funded with local grant funds from the Otto Schoitz Foundation.

In order to be eligible, the recipient must be a Black Hawk County resident and be 18 or older; receive their initial dose of COVID-19 vaccination between the dates of June 11-July 19; current Black Hawk County address listed on the Immunization Registry Information System; initial vaccines received from any provider administering COVID-19 vaccines are eligible as long as during the dates of June 11-July 29 and the person lives in Black Hawk County; Black Hawk County Public Health employees and their immediate families are not eligible to win.

The program is aiming to increase the current 58.2 percent vaccination rate in residents 18 and older to 75 percent by July 29.
