San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents from the El Cajon Station arrested two men in two separate events during the weekend.  Both had entered the U.S. illegally and were prior felons.

The first incident occurred on Friday, Sept. 27 at approximately 8:30 p.m., when agents observed three people cross the border illegally.  Quickly intercepting the three individuals, agents arrested them and took them to a nearby station.  Records checks revealed that one man, a 39-year-old Mexican national, had a criminal history and had been arrested and prosecuted in California for sexual intercourse with a minor in 2006.

The second incident occurred 24 hours later at approximately 9 p.m.  Again, agents observed a small group of people cross the U.S. Mexico border.  Agents and a K-9 responded immediately and found four men laying on the ground, attempting of avoid detection.  All four admitted to being illegally present in the U.S. and were arrested.

Inquiries at a nearby station revealed that one of the four men in the second group also had a criminal history.  The 29-year-old Mexican national had been arrested and prosecuted in 2016 for intentional child abuse with serious physical injury.

Both men are currently in the custody of Department of Homeland Security officials and face Federal charges.
