A petition to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom has more than half of the signatures required with a few months left. Newson, who was caught eating indoors at The French Laundry after issuing some of the most strict COVID restrictions in the country, has seemingly lost favor with a number of his constituents.

As of Thursday, Rescue California representatives told Fox News the petition had more than 820,000 signatures. The group needs 1.5 million signatures to force the recall vote. March 10 is the deadline to gather the signatures.

Anne Dunsmore, Rescue California’s campaign manager, said there are 2,000-3,000 active volunteers on the ground working on behalf of the initiative.

Even Politico has now called the “long-shot” Newsom recall drive “serious.”
