Former State Senator Jim Carlin delivered a clear vision for America’s future during his address at the Linn County Republican Convention, home county of Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-02), on March 7. He emphasized three core priorities for his campaign: fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and accountable government.

In his speech, Carlin called for immediate action to “stop the bleeding” by auditing the Federal Reserve, restarting balanced budget discussions, capping the money supply, and returning to a sound currency backed by gold and silver.
He stressed securing borders and sovereignty through completing the border wall, banning Sharia law to prevent future issues, and ensuring American farmland remains in American hands.
Finally, Carlin advocated putting people over the political machine by implementing term limits for Congress, banning stock trading by members, and reforming campaign finance through overturning Citizens United.
Earlier in the day, Carlin repeated his call to Rep. Hinson for a substantive debate ahead of the Republican primary, Rep. Hinson has still not responded or agreed to face voters in a public forum to discuss these critical issues.
“Iowans deserve to hear directly from candidates about solutions to our nation’s challenges,” Carlin said. “Silence isn’t leadership—it’s time for open discussion.”
Carlin’s campaign continues to gain momentum by focusing on principled conservatism and accountability in Washington.
