U.S. Senate candidate Jim Carlin won a recent Iowa caucus straw poll reported by the Iowa Standard, over RINO Rep. Ashley Hinson, delivering an encouraging boost of momentum as his grassroots campaign continues to gain strength across the state. Carlin beat Hinson 54% to 46%. This includes Linn County which is Ashley’s home county.
Carlin’s campaign has focused on his “Stop the Squeeze” message — fighting back against the forces squeezing Iowa families, farmers, and small businesses, while Washington insiders and special interests profit. His call for holding corporate monopolies and Big Pharma accountable resonated strongly with caucus goers tired of business-as-usual politics.
“We are deeply grateful for the strong support from caucus-goers,” Carlin said. “This win shows Iowans are ready for someone who works for them – not the machine,” he continued, “People are being squeezed from every direction. Every single part of our lives has become more expensive. They want a Senator who will fight to restore opportunity, not rubber-stamp the status quo.”
The straw poll victory reflects a broader pattern emerging across Republican primaries in this state: voters are rejecting establishment-backed candidates in favor of outsiders willing to stand up to business-as-usual politics. Carlin’s focus on economic freedom, property rights, fiscal responsibility, and accountability to voters – not donors – is resonating with Iowans tired of unaccountable leaders.
“This campaign is building real momentum because it’s powered by passionate volunteers, not special interests,” Carlin said. “We’re taking the Stop the Squeeze message to every community in our state and earning support of voters one conversation at a time. While the June primary is still ahead, this result shows that Iowans are ready for a Senator that shows up for them, not her donors.”
