The National Sanctity of Human Life Day is January 22, 2025, and there are several events celebrating life in the nation’s capital this week, including the 52nd annual March for Life Rally and Faith & Liberty’s “Prayers & Remembrance: Victims of Roe” prayer vigil.
The annual March for Life Rally is a response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that allowed for the nationwide killing of unborn babies. The March for Life was established to celebrate life and advocate for protecting women and unborn babies. Since this year marks the 52nd year since the infamous Roe decision, the 52nd annual March for Life Rally will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025. The rally will begin at 12 p.m. on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and then participants will march to Capitol Hill.
According to the March for Life, it is the largest annual human rights rally in the world where tens of thousands of pro-life supporters gather on the National Mall to celebrate “each and every life from the moment of conception.” Since the High Court overturned the Roe and the 1992 Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey abortion decisions on June 24, 2022, this year’s March for Life will be the third such event in post-Roe America.
The theme of the 2025 March for Life is “Life: Why We March.” According to the rally’s website, more than 900,000 are still aborted in America each year despite Roe being overturned. The theme is meant to encourage pro-life advocates to renew their energy during the next phase of the battle for life by reflecting on the basics of the pro-life cause: that “every human life – including the unborn and their mothers – is beautiful, has unique dignity, and worthy of protection.”
Liberty Counsel Vice President of Governmental Affairs Jonathan Alexandre will participate in the rally and the march.
This year’s rally will host a range of speakers including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis; U.S. Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ); Bethany Hamilton, professional surfer, mother, and pro-life advocate; Dr. Catherine Wheeler, Obstetrician; Josiah Presley, Abortion Survivor; Lila Rose, President of Live Action; Beverly Jacobson, CEO of Mama Bear Care; and Jennie Bradley Lichter, President-Elect of the March for Life. The band Unspoken will perform leading up to the Noon rally and Julie Stone of Sopranojam Music Studio will sing the National Anthem.
On Wednesday, January 22 at 12 p.m., Faith & Liberty will host “Prayers & Remembrance: Victims of Roe” on the west side of the Supreme Court. Three thousand flowers will be placed on the sidewalk in front of the High Court during this event to represent the American babies that are killed every day by abortion and the women who have been harmed from an abortion since the 1973 Roe decision. Speakers will offer reflection, prayers and/or Bible verses to honor the sanctity of life. The speakers will include Liberty Counsel Vice President of Strategic partnerships Rev. Gregory Cox, Faith & Liberty Senior Vice President Peggy Nienaber, and Liberty Counsel Vice President of Governmental Affairs Jonathan Alexandre.
Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “New life should inspire celebration and hope. Yet, the death of so many innocent children is a stain on America. The nation must repent of this human genocide. While Roe and Casey have now been overturned at the High Court, there is much work be done to protect innocent children in the nation and we must never give up in this battle to protect every unborn life.”
