Democrat State Sen. Claire Celsi is good for at least a half dozen stories every legislative session. But there is even more material thanks to her social media presence.

After news of the University of Iowa extending football coach Kirk Ferentz, Celsi tweeted:

“You know things in Iowa are going in the wrong direction when the top state employee gets a $1 million ‘longevity bonus,’ a four-year contract and keeps his son on the payroll after a miserable year as offensive coordinator.”

Now, to be fair, Celsi actually offered a solid football take when describing the Hawkeye offense.

But it is worth pointing out that in 2017, Ferentz donated $1 million to the University of Iowa’s Children’s Hospital to help researchers work on improving survival rates for premature babies.

Nonetheless, it was a long day on Twitter for Celsi:

Even some Democrats weren’t having it.
