The Colorado GOP is still in the midst of a leadership dispute after conflicting votes at meetings regarding Dave Williams continuing as the state’s Republican Party chairman.
At the first meeting, members voted to remove Williams 161.66-12. Some votes counted for a fraction of a full vote. However, at the most recent vote, the result flipped 191.5-10.
According to reports, only a handful of his supporters attended the first meeting. But a similarly small number of his critics attended the most recent meeting.
Williams sent an email earlier this year attacking Pride Month. The title of the email was “God Hates Pride.”
“The month of June has arrived and, once again, the godless groomers in our society want to attack what is decent, holy and righteous so they can ultimately harm our children,” Williams wrote.
On Twitter, the Colorado GOP’s account encouraged followers to “burn all the pride flags this June.”
Williams said he considered things settled after the most recent vote. He also said it is time for the party to move forward and work to elect President Donald J. Trump and all down ballot nominees.
However, his critics said the most recent was meaningless because the only legally convened gathering of the state’s central committee was the one where he was removed. Both sides of the dispute have filed lawsuits.
