Today, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed the Save Women’s Sports Act, legislation prohibiting biological males from competing in female athletics in the state’s K-12 schools as well as institutions of higher education. The move makes Oklahoma the thirteenth state to explicitly protect women’s sports in law.
In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP), released the following statement praising the move:
“Just two years ago, as the threat to girls’ sports was growing, almost no political leader wanted to talk about it. But now, 13 states have acted to protect female athletes, with even more likely to follow. This shift in momentum has been incredible.
“Of course, preserving a fair playing field for women and girls shouldn’t be controversial. Unfortunately, however, the woke left and their allies in the media and Big Business have been working overtime to vilify anyone who dares to support the integrity of girls’ sports. Until now, their intimidation tactics have typically succeeded.
“Thankfully, Republican leaders are beginning to fight back against this extremism and stand up on behalf of American families. We applaud Governor Stitt and Oklahoma lawmakers for joining with other states across the country in defending female athletes, and we look forward to more leaders taking this step in the coming weeks.”
