The Iowa Standard reached out to Congressman Steve King to ask about contributions from leadership PACs to other congressional candidates.

Iowa’s Republican Representatives — Randy Feenstra, Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks — all contributed money from their leadership PACs to the re-election campaign of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler.

Beutler was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach President Donald J. Trump. She also said Trump “incited” the “riot,” called the protestors who went into the Capitol “terrorists,” has a 57 percent lifetime score from Freedom Works and a 50 percent Liberty Score from Conservative Review.

Feenstra contributed $5,000 from his PAC — “Delivers PAC” — to Beutler’s re-election. She lost to Joe Kent, a candidate endorsed by President Trump.

While leadership can request money from members that goes to certain candidates, at the end of the day, The Iowa Standard believes it is up to each member to actually send the money from their own leadership PAC to another candidate.

And Herrera Beutler should not have received a dime from a conservative.

Kent has been branded as a “principled conservative” while Beutler is a RINO squish.

It is said that birds of a feather flock together.

As for Congressman King, he said he would have done whatever he could to help Kent.

“I would have endorsed Joe Kent and gone to Washington to campaign for him,” he said. “Nothing changes unless leadership changes.”
