At a Sioux County Conservatives Pizza & Policy event on Monday, Nov. 25, Tammy Kobza encouraged those in attendance to contact Gov. Kim Reynolds. Iowans in the Fourth Congressional District were told to ask Gov. Reynolds to contact Congressman Kevin McCarthy, the GOP House Minority Leader, and tell him to restore Congressman Steve King to his committees.

Kobza, who serves as the co-chair of the district executive committee, said King has been a blessing to her.

“Whether you support Steve King or not, I bet you all support justice and what’s the right thing to do for any congressman when it comes to getting kicked off of a committee,” Kobza said. “I don’t think we’re going to find felonies in his background. At the district executive committee last Wednesday night, we approved a letter. we would like anyone interested to call the Governor of Iowa.”

The letter starts by informing Reynolds that as constituents in the Fourth District, “we believe Congressman McCarthy’s actions to remove Congressman King from his committees is a breach of trust to our district.”

“He was removed without any proof that he had said those things,” it reads. “Many of us personally know the Congressman and we know he is not racist! We see his faith in action in treating fellow Americans with dignity. We also know he understands how Western Civilization has been the basis for our country’s strength.

“Steve King is as apt to promote ‘white supremacy’ and ‘white nationalism’ as Nancy Pelosi is to promote life from the moment of conception until natural death.”

Kobza said that while King is voting for the District, the committee assignments are of value as well.

The letter added, “We are appealing to you, as our Governor, as a Republican that cares about the rule of law, justice and fairness to those serving, as well as to his constituents.”

King is appreciated for his service and voice on border security, life of the unborn, defending religious liberty, promoting our strong agriculture, our ability to defend our persons and finally for our freedom of speech, the letter states.

“This action against the Congressman would be seen by our fathers and grandfathers as something that only those in Communist countries would endure,” the letter continues. “We have fallen that far from our Republican ideals due to political correctness, false narratives and shoddy journalism in this country. We as Republicans cannot let these actions stand. If we do, no one is safe from being shut down under false pretenses.”
