Representatives Ken Buck (Colorado) and Alex Mooney (West Virginia released the following statements after voting against a bill that codifies homosexual marriage and repeals the Defense of Marriage Act:

Representative Buck released the following statement on the Obergefell bill vote:

“With inflation the highest since 1981, the Democrats have resurrected yet another element of the culture war in hopes of distracting voters from their failed agenda. The Supreme Court clearly stated in Dobbs that marriage is a settled issue and I believe them.”

Congressman Mooney (West Virginia) issued the following statement on H.R. 8404. This legislation is an attempt by Democrats to distract from President Biden’s failed economic record.

Marriage is between a man and a woman. In fact, today’s vote is nothing more than an election year political stunt by Speaker Pelosi and Democrats in Congress,” said Congressman Alex X. Mooney. “With President Biden’s reckless spending leading to historic inflation and his support for the Green New Deal sending gas prices soaring, House Democrats want to talk about anything else, but the failing Biden Presidency.”
