SCR 4, proposed by Sen. Liz Mathis (D-Hiawatha). A concurrent resolution requesting to establish an interim study committee to identify creative, environmental and sustainable ways to limit single-use plastics.

The resolution says plastic has been mass produced for about 60 years and has created more than eight billion metric tons of waste. Only nine percent of that is recycled.

Plastic waste could sit in Iowa landfills for hundreds of years, the resolution states.

The resolution did not have a subcommittee hearing.
