Republican Mayra Flores won the Texas Congressional District 34 race with more than 50 percent of the vote. Flores received 14,780 votes, or 51 percent.

Democrat Dan Sanchez received 12,560 votes, or 43.3 percent.

The district is more than 80 percent Hispanic and has been a Democrat-held seat for more than 100 years.

“Monster move happening here most in media still aren’t seeing,” tweeted Clay Travis. “Hillary won this congressional district by 22 points in 2016. The Democrat won it by 14 points in 2020. Republicans are going to win it tonight.”

Flores will be the first Mexican-born congresswoman.
