Democrat State Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott is also a “pastor.” Today on Twitter she expressed displeasure at the idea there may not be a constitutional right to kill unborn babies in Iowa.

”This morning, the Iowa Supreme Court reversed its own 2018 decision and ruled against reproductive rights, gutting Iowa’s constitutional right to an abortion,” she said. “With SCOTUS poised to overturn Roe, reproductive rights and health care are in grave danger. This decision is a green light for conservative legislators to pass severe restrictions — or place a complete ban — on abortion.”

Trone Garriott said the decision is deeply troubling, but doesn’t “leave us powerless.”

She encouraged people to learn more about the Iowa Abortion Access Fund as well as Emma Goldman Iowa, which provides abortion services.

“Deeply personal medical decisions shouldn’t be controlled by extremist politicians,” Trone Garriott wrote. “GOP leaders like my opponent, (Senate President) Jake Chapman, were already drafting an amendment to take away abortion rights. Who returns to the Capitol next January will decide whether it goes on the ballot in 2024.

”In November, (pro-abortion) candidates are taking on (pro-life) legislators across the state. I am up against (pro-life) GOP leader and I can win with your help.”

If you want to help Chapman defend his seat — and your pro-life values — you can do so at this link.
