Iowans always know where Sen. Claire Celsi (D-West Des Moines) stands on an issue. Everyone can appreciate knowing where a politician stands on issues.

But at times, Celsi goes a bit too far. Today’s tweet may be one of those times:

Celsi said, “Iowa: The best place to live, work and put your family at risk of dying of COVID-19. Has a great ring to it…”

To be sure, Celsi is being sarcastic. Well, at least there’s hope she’s being sarcastic. There is nothing “great” about losing a family member to COVID-19.

While adults can disagree on what “precautions” are necessary for the government to put in place in response to COVID-19, it is true that some families are hurting because they lost a loved on to the virus.

The job of a state legislator should be to promote the state, not ridicule it.

Celsi failed in this case.
