On Tuesday, Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action for America, issued a statement condemning the fundamentally unserious and illegitimate spectacle masquerading as an official proceeding that misleads the American public about Project 2025 while ignoring the failed policies of the Left.
“The members of this orchestrated campaign to distort and mislead the American people about the policy recommendations in Heritage’s longstanding manual, Mandate for Leadership, represent a liberal movement that would rather lie than engage in honest policy debate. Every member of this so-called ‘task force’ embodies the failures of the Biden-Harris administration: a border invasion with millions of illegal immigrants entering the country, skyrocketing mortgage rates up 114%, mounting global conflicts, crumbling public schools, and the worst inflation in decades.
“Rather than addressing the concerns of families across the nation who are increasingly worried about the country’s direction, these Members of Congress choose to mislead Americans with political theatrics. While Americans are looking for real solutions, these Democratic leaders offer nothing but empty rhetoric and distractions.
“Their proposals to raise taxes, expand the IRS, grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, support pro-Hamas groups on college campuses, and continue the disastrous policies of this administration are notably unpopular. No amount of showboating will alter that reality. Project 2025 is our answer to this extremism—and a roadmap for restoring the American Dream. The Left’s ongoing attacks on our efforts show that we’ve struck a nerve, and that’s because they know we’re offering real solutions that challenge their failed agenda.”
Meanwhile, members of the so-called “Task Force to Counter Project 2025 and Defend Democracy” have gone on record saying the following:
- Progressive Caucus Chair Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) stated, “I want you to know that we have been fighting to make it clear that Israel is a racist state.”
- Rep. Jared Huffman (CA-02) claimed that Bidenomics is “working” and praised the “Inflation Reduction Act,” which has resulted in a 40% price increase.
- Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) co-sponsored legislation to create a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.
- Ranking Member of Oversight Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-08) voted to fund the addition of 87,000 new IRS agents to target small businesses and working-class Americans.
- Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-01) supported taxpayer-funded abortions.
