Democrats have high hopes of taking control of the Iowa House from Republicans. The Iowa Standard is going to highlight some of the legislation filed by Democrats to provide an idea of what a Democrat-controlled Iowa House may mean for the Hawkeye State.
Rep. Bruce Hunter (D-Des Moines) filed House File 29. The bill would designate teachers licensed under Code chapter 272 as “public safety employees” for the purposes of collective bargaining.
It is an interesting idea at a time when Iowa teachers are writing their own mock obituaries out of fear of returning to the classroom this fall.
