Iowa Democrats are focused on regaining control of the Iowa House. Republicans currently hold a 53-47 advantage, but the chamber is perhaps the truest “toss-up” of any legislative chamber in the nation.

The Iowa Standard is highlighting some of the legislation filed by Democrats to let Iowans know what might be in store should Democrats take control of the House.

Democrat Representatives Bruce Hunter, Art Staed, Mary Mascher, Monica Kurtz and Vicki Lensing filed a bill to repeal the declaration that English is the official language of Iowa.

Only one lobbyist group registered against the bill — Iowa Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.

The Iowa Catholic Conference, Episcopal Diocese of Iowa, Iowa Conference of United Methodist Church and Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence registered in support of the bill.
