Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Ahart is in a political showdown with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds over online learning and sports. As it turns out, it isn’t just Ahart who is publicly squaring off with Reynolds, but also Ahart’s wife.
Jami Bassman Ahart is the wife of Thomas. Her social media accounts are extremely critical of Reynolds as well as President Donald J. Trump.
In this Oct. 31, 2018 post, Thomas is pictured with praying hands taped to a headband, a cross around his neck with an angel attached and what looks to be his Des Moines Public School badge over his left thigh.
Jami has quite a way of expressing her views, as you can see in this video.
Her top layer says “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.”
The bottom layer says, “Melania, keep your (a drawing of a male private part with what appears to be Trump’s picture near the tip) away from my (unreadable).”
Ahart, seems fairly confident Des Moines Public Schools may not approve of her hat in this photo, but nothing about the shirt.
“My taste in hats is strictly my own and is no way a reflection of the taste of the employer of anyone I live with. It should not be assumed that my hat meets with the approval of any person or persons other than myself. I choose my own hats.”
Jami is big proponent of mask wearing.
“This looks like a simple mask, but it’s really part of a vast liberal-Chinese conspiracy to destroy America and subvert white men.”
Masks aren’t as important when bullying your neighbor for their political yard signs.
Tolerance and appreciation for diversity seem to have their political boundaries for Jami too.
Jami has also hounded Reynolds on Twitter.
She’s called Reynolds #KimReaper and a COVIDIOT.
Ahart’s wife also said Reynolds will “need more than one day of prayer to get those hands clean, Lady Macreynolds. #KimKillsIowans #CoronaKim #OutDamnSpot #BloodOnTheirHands #ConsiderSellingLipstickToWhiteWomenInstead.”

Jami wrote to Reynolds, “teachers, students and families are collateral damage in your looney toons plan. Fuel on the fire you’ve failed to address.”
She called Reynolds a “co-conspirator” here in Iowa with President Trump, who “owns every death” and that Reynolds is “pandering” to her “ignorant leader.”
She pondered how many Iowa mothers would “lose their lives today as a direct result of Reynolds’ choices to help Trump.” She nominated Reynolds as “THE dumbest governor.”
The wife of the Des Moines Public Schools superintendent then said called Reynolds “twit for brains.”
This seems like a natural time to transition from her thoughts on Reynolds to her thoughts on President Trump.

If you are curious, Des Moines Public Schools has a strict anti-bullying policy. Points worth highlighting in this instance are bolded.
The Board directs the Superintendent to implement appropriate procedures and regulations to maintain an academic environment that is free from harassment, including sexual harassment, and bullying. The District will take action to halt any bullying and harassment and will take appropriate corrective actions, including disciplinary measures, to remedy all violations of this policy. It is a violation of this policy for any student, staff member, volunteer, parent or business associate of the District to harass or bully any student on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, age, marital status, sexual orientation, physical attributes, physical or mental ability or disability, ancestry, political party preference, political belief, military affiliation, socioeconomic status, familial status, or any other trait or characteristic, on or in school property or vehicles, and at any school function or school-sponsored activity, regardless of the activity’s location. Harassment and bullying are prohibited by the State of Iowa and this school policy. Violations of this policy or procedure will be cause for disciplinary action up to and including expulsion. The level of discipline for each incident will be determined after considering the severity of the incident and any prior incidents. The Board is committed to providing all students with a safe and civil school environment in which all members of the school community are treated with dignity and respect.
This policy is in effect while students or employees are on property within the jurisdiction of the District, including District-owned or chartered vehicles, and while away from school grounds if bullying, harassment, hazing, or any other victimization of students directly affects the good order, efficient management, and welfare of the District.
If, after an investigation, any student, staff member, volunteer, parent or business associate of the District found to be in violation of this policy may be disciplined by appropriate measures, which may include expulsion and termination.
