Dog-Eared Books in Ames is defending sexually explicit books inside Iowa school libraries and taking aim at Iowa Senate President Jake Chapman.

Chapman has led the charge against sexually explicit, vulgar books being in Iowa school libraries. The Republican highlighted the issue last week during his opening remarks of the 2022 Legislative Session.

Dog-Eared Books said it supports “sinister” teachers and librarians and their work to continue to include diverse stories in schools and libraries.

“Senator Jake Chapman continues to make harmful and hateful comments, and we encourage you to use your voice to make it known that you do not support banning representative, inclusive books,” said a post on Dog-Eared Books’ Instagram account. “Stop by and write a postcard to Iowa Sen. Jake Chapman in support of the teachers and librarians that work hard every day to provide quality education and uplift marginalized voices.”

The store invited guests to join them for “Chapman’s List Book Club” each month to read titles Chapman has criticized.

The group is reading “All Boys Aren’t Blue” next. The meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.

Here is a portion of “All Boys Aren’t Blue.”

“He reached his hand down and pulled out my d**k. He quickly went to giving me head. I just sat back and enjoyed it as I could tell he was, too. He was also definitely experienced in what he was doing, because he went to work quite confidently. He then came up and asked me if I wanted to try on him…He didn’t know I was a virgin, and I did my best to act dominant like my favorite porn star. I was an actor, and this was my movie.”

Dog-Eared Books also shared this video previously, promoting the book “Gender Queer.”

“Gender Queer” contains the following images that Dog-Eared Books supports having in Iowa school libraries. Be warned, these images are not appropriate for children:

There is still time to turn this around in Ames and save our next generation. Conditional School District Employment contingent on passing Random Drug Testing styled on the DOT model.
