Central College, a private four-year college in Pella that states it values its “long-standing relationship” with the Reformed Church in America will be the site of another drag show on Friday, April 1.

The event is being hosted by Central College Common Ground, a social group focused on highlighting LGBTQ+ perspectives, issues, history and more on Central’s campus.

  1. If we’re going to do such nonsense in Pella, April Fool’s Day is most certainly the day to do it. So much for our Christian community and Dutch heritage. All that Christian stuff is just something of the not-too-distant past and no longer relevant around here. The Reformed Church can consider its candle to be blown out. Go ahead and throw away those Bible’s no longer used and raise the rainbow flag hypocrites. According to our Pella City Council we always obey the law – every law but God’s law. Are there any questions as to the depth of sickness this community and state is in? When sexual immorality is openly practiced and accepted as normal, then judgment can’t be too far away. Oops! That’s more of that Bible stuff we no longer believe in again.

  2. Not everyone believed in the Bible or your interpretation there of in the first place, Rick, and not everyone in Pella is Christian. Hating your neighbors because they are not living to your ideals is very unchristian, and I’m sorry the devil found a home in your heart. I am happy, however, to have seen the true Christians in Pella accept the LGBT+ by living the example set by Christ; “The most important [commandment],” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31

  3. Now would this be the same R. Lee Phillips of Pella Iowa who according to a quick google search was arrested by the Oskaloosa Police September 29, 2020 with two counts of possession of controlled substance second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia? Just asking to be sure that this is really the person we should listen to about Christian morality and standards. Peace and God’s Love!
