With three weeks until her 2022 Roast and Ride, Joni Ernst announced today that proceeds from the event will be going to the Cpl. Daegan Page Foundation. The organization was founded in honor of Corporal Daegan William-Tyeler Page, a Red Oak native who was killed on August 26, 2021 in the bombing at the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan.
“As someone who knows Daegan’s family personally, I’m proud to announce that the proceeds from this year’s Ruck, Roast, and Ride will go to the Cpl. Daegan Page Foundation,” said Ernst. “The work the foundation is doing in Daegan’s honor will help countless veterans and their families. We look forward to honoring Daegan’s life and legacy on October 22.”
“The Ruck and Ride are great examples of the Dae way; experiences, adventure and overcoming challenges! As we look forward within our giving strategy, we are honored to utilize these additional funds to further our mission and support our country’s veterans and their families!” said Wendy Adelson, mother of Cpl. Page.
“I was raised in rural Iowa, and Daegan spent the first 5 years of his life in Iowa, floating the rivers and running the parks and streets of small-town Iowa. Throughout his life, we continued to make many memories in southwest Iowa and in the Des Moines area. It brings a sense of joy knowing that Daegan will be mentioned, honored and remembered in Iowa this month.”
The day will consist of a morning Ruck march and motorcycle Ride, both which will be in honor of Cpl. Page, in addition to a hog Roast.
