On Wednesday, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released an “Inside the Majority” video that features Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks’s effort to protect the American Dream.

Part of the NRCC’s Inside the Majority video series, this profile of Miller-Meeks is one in a larger effort to showcase the real-life backgrounds and legislative priorities of House Republicans. The series aims to reinforce the party’s message about economic opportunity, individual achievement and responsive representation.

In the video, Miller-Meeks details her path to Capitol Hill. She notes that coming from a family of 10 in which nobody had gone to college, she left home at 16, enlisted in the military, served 24 years, went from community college to a degree in nursing to medical school and now to Congress.

“You want to make sure that that opportunity, that American Dream, exists for every kid,” she said.

As a doctor, Miller-Meeks said she learned the government was making decisions for her that weren’t in the best interest of her patients.

“I felt that I needed to be within government to influence that dialogue and decision rather than those decisions and rules being made by people who had never done what I had done,” she said.

Following four years of incredibly high inflation from the Biden presidency, Miller-Meeks said her top priority is helping lower costs for the average American.

Congressional efforts to lower costs and foster good-paying jobs are critically important, she added.

“Almost every bill that I put across comes from somebody in my district talking to me about a problem that they face,” she said. “Those things inspire and motivate me every single day to serve the people of Iowa.”

Miller-Meeks is seeking a fourth term in the United States House of Representatives. She’s running in Iowa’s First District.

“Mariannette Miller-Meeks is an America First fighter delivering real results for Iowans every day,” said NRCC spokeswoman Emily Tuttle. “Working families know they can count on her to protect the American Dream and expand opportunity across the state.”
