Despite numerous media reports of Jan. 6 being an “armed insurrection,” an FBI official testified on Wednesday that she has no knowledge of any guns being recovered from individuals who were arrested during the protest at the U.S. Capitol.

Sen. Ron Johnson asked if firearms were recovered or any suspects were charged with firearms offenses.

“To my knowledge, none,” said Jill Sanborn, FBI counterterrorism official.

Sanborn also said she believes the only shots fired were those that resulted in Ashil Babbit’s death.

Johnson told the New York Times:

“If that was a planned armed insurrection, you really have a bunch of idiots.”
