Randy Feenstra joined Sen. Joni Ernst’s RV Tour in Sioux Center on Friday morning to rally Republicans at the GOP Victory office. Sioux Center is in the heart of Sioux County – Feenstra’s home turf.

About 130 people showed up for the event.

Feenstra thanked the crowd for allowing him to serve the last 12 years in the Iowa Senate. He talked extensively about the importance of Republicans maintaining control in the Iowa legislature.

He touted the Republican record of the last four years in Des Moines – the largest income tax reduction in state history, defunding Planned Parenthood, passing a 48-hour waiting period before an abortion, passing the heartbeat bill, defending Second Amendment rights and strengthening property rights for Iowans.

One note of interest, Feenstra predicted the Iowa legislature will revisit the heartbeat bill in 2021. The bill never advanced to the Iowa Supreme Court, and now that many of the justices on the court have been replaced since discovering a right to an abortion in the Iowa Constitution, it may be a battle Republicans see as being worth having.

“I’m begging you to get out to vote because we’ve got to keep the majority in the House and the Senate,” Feenstra said.

As for his race to win the Fourth Congressional seat in Iowa, Feenstra said he is running so the district has an effective, conservative, proven leader in Congress.

“We are government,” he said. “Each one of us is government. We don’t have government over here and us over here. No, our founding fathers said ‘We the People,’ meaning that we collectively are government and that’s why they created the Constitution. The Constitution was actually created to protect us from government, not government to protect us.”
