On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Pandemic is Over Act and the Freedom for Health Care Workers Act. These two pieces of legislation would end President Biden’s COVID-19 emergency powers and stop vaccine mandates for healthcare workers.

“President Biden has extended his unconstitutional power to shut down Iowa businesses, lock our kids out of the classroom, force Americans to wear masks, and mandate the COVID vaccine for far too long. It’s time for him to end the COVID emergency and let Iowans make their own decisions for their families and themselves,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I am proud to support legislation that officially ends the COVID emergency orders and prevents vaccine mandates on our healthcare workers. Enough is enough.”

The Pandemic is Over Act officially ends the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) and the Freedom for Health Care Workers Act formally terminates the COVID-19 vaccine mandate on frontline healthcare workers imposed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
