Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the Biden-Harris administration announced it was withdrawing a rule that would hurt women’s sports:

“The Biden-Harris administration’s proposed rule to hurt women’s sports is antithetical to the cornerstone of sports—fairness. Allowing men to compete against women undermines and limits opportunities for women. It’s also antithetical to the cornerstone of Title IX, which was intended to give women more opportunities, not take them away.

“I appreciate that this flawed rule is being pulled back—it never should have been proposed in the first place. But there is still egg on your face, Mr. President. You advanced another Title IX rule that has left girls, women, and schools reeling because it removes protections and equal opportunities that women have fought for decades to secure.

“Simply put, the attack the Biden-Harris administration unleashed on women and women’s sport is still underway and I look forward to working with the Trump administration and my Republican colleagues to fight to protect women’s sports.”
