Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Mike Franken remained committed to the continued legal killing of unborn babies on Thursday night. Franken refused to answer when an unborn baby becomes viable.

“Well, the short of it is, during the most private times, personal times in a woman’s life, we shouldn’t have the government stepping in to determine when viability exists, etc.,” he said. “The doctor knows this, the woman knows this. This is not something for government to step in and make those determinations.”

He was allowed that dodge as the moderator went on to ask Sen. Grassley a question. Sen. Grassley also dodged the question, but the moderators revisited it two times and forced Grassley to answer the question.

For what it is worth, neither candidate gave great pro-life answers to the abortion question. But it would have been nice if the moderators of the debate forced Franken, a father of two, to answer when he believes his own children reached the stage of viability.
