Nick Freitas delivered a fiery, faith-centered address at AmericaFest 2025, warning that America is locked in a clash of irreconcilable worldviews and urging Christians to respond with boldness rather than fear.
Freitas started by reading a note he had written the day Charlie Kirk was assassinated. He said it offended the Left, but he believes it is true, which is why he wrote it.
Here is the note he wrote:
“I am told as a state representative this is the moment where I’m supposed to express my heartfelt condolences and then stand in solidarity with those on the other side of the aisle as we condemn political violence and stand unified as one people,’” he read. “‘But we aren’t one people, are we? The truth is, we haven’t been for some time now, and there is really no point in pretending anymore if there ever was. We are two very different peoples. We may occupy the same piece of geography, but that is where the similarities seem to abruptly end. I convinced myself for a long time that whenever the left called me a racist, a bigot, a sexist, a fascist, a threat to democracy, for even the most innocent of disagreements, that it was simply hyperbolic rhetoric done for effect. And now the effect is a widow. And two children without a father, because the left couldn’t bear the thought of a peaceful man debating them and winning. I don’t think they realize yet, but murdering Charlie is going to be remembered as the day where we finally woke up to what this fight really is. It is not a civil dispute among fellow countrymen. It is a war between diametrically opposed worldviews which cannot peacefully coexist with one another. One side will win and one side will lose.
Charlie tried to win that fight through argumentation, through discussion, through peaceful resolution of differences, and the other side murdered him for it. Not because he was extreme or inciting violence or any other hyperbolic slur they hurled at him. They murdered him because he was effective. Because he was unafraid, because he inspired others and made them feel like they had a voice and that they were not alone. And he did it at the very institutions which have fomented so much hatred toward conservatives. I don’t wanna stand in solidarity with the other side of the aisle. I want to defeat you.
I want to defeat the godless ideology that kills babies in the womb, sterilizes confused children, turns our cities into cesspools of degeneracy and lawlessness, the ideology that murdered Charlie Kirk.
Social media is aflame right now with leftist celebration of Charlie’s death. I wonder if any among them understand what has just happened. If there is a Yamamoto somewhere in their midst warning that all they have done is awoken a sleeping giant. I doubt it. I think they gave up such introspection and self-awareness a long time ago. I don’t know exactly what will happen next. I just know that it won’t be the same as what has happened in the past. Charlie would have won it first. Not for himself. But for those left behind and for the country loved. But then there will be a reckoning. My Christian faith requires me to love my enemies and pray for those who curse me. It does not require me to stand idly by in the midst of savagery and barbarism, quite the opposite.
So every time I feel tired. Every time I feel discouraged or overwhelmed. I’m going to watch the video of a good man being murdered in Utah. I will force myself to watch it. And then I will return to the work of destroying the evil ideology responsible for that and so much more. Rest with God, Charlie. Your fight is over. Ours is just beginning.”
Freitas said the Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates immediately sent out a text condemning the note. Others followed.
“They take issue with the point where I said that this is a war between diametrically opposed worldviews,” Freitas said. “According to them, that’s not true. Well, I’m thrilled to hear it. If it’s not true, OK, on the Left, someone, you tell me. When will you not require me to subsidize the destruction of death in the womb? When will you not require me to subsidize the mutilation of gender confused children? When will you not require me to subsidize the indoctrination of our children within our school system? When will you not systematically seek to disarm me and prevent me from being able to protect my family? When will you cease constantly using the government to intervene in the lives of free people in a way it was never intended?
“And we know the answer. The answer is never. That is their objective. It is diametrically opposed to my own.”
Freitas said he chose his words carefully and did not say it was a war between people. He has a mandate from God to forgive his enemies and bless those who curse him.
“But you know what Romans 12 also commands me to do? Abhor evil,” he said. “Not tolerate, not accept, not accommodate and sure as hell not celebrate.”
Evil, Freitas said, has been comfortable for too long in America’s politics, schools and churches.
“Sometimes you don’t understand what evil is when you see it,” Freitas said. “But you do understand what it is when it looks back. And the question that we all have to answer going forward: What is it going to see when it looks at us? Because I want it to see right through me and see the living God that I represent. I want it to be terrified of my presence.”
Freitas said Charlie Kirk did not build an organization and travel across the country to point to Charlie Kirk, but to point much higher.
“He knew that our country would not ultimately be saved by another election cycle. It was going to be saved by godly men and women becoming godly husbands and wives, becoming godly mothers and fathers,” Freitas said. “You show me a nation comprised of those sort of people and I will show you a country whose politics you don’t have to worry about.”
There is no more time for fear, Freitas said. God commands boldness and doesn’t allow fear.
“Why should we be? He already fought the hardest battle on our behalf,” Freitas said. “And now He asks us, not because He needs us to join Him, but He asks us to join Him in this fight for not just the salvation of our country, but the salvation of souls. And how do we respond to that? The only appropriate response is, ‘Here I am, send me.’”
While many people ask Freitas if he believes we can save America, he wants them to stop asking him that question. Instead, they need to start doing the work to save America.
“The last message Joshua gave to the children of Israel was: ‘Choose this day whom you serve. But as for me and my house… We will serve the Lord,’” Freitas said. “He was not taking an opinion poll. He was not trying to see whether or not a majority supported his decision. He was telling them that, regardless of what you decide, he had already made his decision. You want to know the sort of people that save a country? It’s the sort of people that have committed to fight for it, regardless of what the potential outcomes could be.”
People are telling young men all the world’s problems are their fault and that their masculinity and instincts God gave them are somehow wrong or toxic not because they have no power, but because they understand how powerful they can be as young men on fire for God who are determined to save the country and their family.
Young women are told to give up true femininity found in Proverbs 31.
“They’re trying to get you to give up that in order to sell you a perverse version of feminism, which looks more like the characteristics of a licentious man than it does a noble woman,” he said. “And I’m begging you to reject both and actually choose what God says about you. Because that’s ultimately what’s going to save the country.”
When he is asked what we do to save America, Freitas said his answer is simple.
“I will be the husband my wife deserves, I will be the father my children deserve, I will be the servant my God deserves and I will be the patriot my country deserves,” he said. “So choose this day who you will serve. But as for me and my house, I will serve the Lord and I will ensure that nothing can tempt me, can intimidate me away from the mission that has been given to me. My job is not to find a noble mission and ask God to join me. My job is to ask what God is doing and to join Him in that process and to do so without fear and without hesitation. And that’s what I’m asking of all of you.
“You don’t need to wonder if you were called. You were born for a moment such as this. Past generations of saints and patriots call to you, reminding you of the debt we owe to them. Future generations will live in the world and the country crafted by your response. So go forward, boldly, unapologetically, confident in the victory that Christ has already given us. And knowing that at all times we are far more concerned about what God says when we arrive than what man says when we are gone.”
