Iowa’s first legislative funnel, which took place last Friday, is one of the most important deadlines of the session. Bills must pass out of committee to remain eligible for consideration this year. While some priority legislation did not advance, ten key bills aligned with informed consent, parental rights, healthcare transparency, and medical choice survived the funnel and continue moving through the legislative process.
As these bills progress, continued education and engagement with legislators remains essential. On Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00 PM, we will be at the Capitol encouraging legislators to pick up the copy of Aaron Siri’s book that was delivered to the Secretary’s office on February 16 and read Chapter 8, which provides important context on the role of mandates and why many experts believe they are unnecessary.
This visit is part of our ongoing effort to support informed dialogue, provide well cited resources, and ensure policymakers have access to information that reflects the experiences and concerns of Iowa families and healthcare professionals.

Conscience Protections for Healthcare Professionals
Provides protections for medical practitioners, health care institutions, and health care coverage providers related to the exercise of conscience, whistleblower activities, and free speech, and establishes penalties.

Remove Ability for Minor to Consent for Vaccines
Requires parental consent for all vaccines on the childhood schedule, removing the ability for children to consent to HPV and HepB.

This bill will prevent any jurisdiction in Iowa from enforcing ANY directives or policies that come from international organizations such as: WHO, UN, UNESCO, & WEF.
