The Iowa Democrats are aggressively attacking America First leaders Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and Congressman Matt Gaetz. The pair will host an America First Rally in Des Moines tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 19).

“We’re still waiting for (Gov. Kim Reynolds) and the Iowa GOP to denounce the racist and homophobic language of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene,” tweeted Ross Wilburn, Democrat state representative and chair of the Iowa Democrat Party. “Their silence emboldens the dangerous fringes of their party and encourages violence against our friends and neighbors.”

Wilburn wants Reynolds and the Iowa GOP to condemn Gaetz for “perpetuating myths” about the security of the 2020 elections and to “acknowledge the severity of the attack on our democracy on Jan. 6, 2021.”

Wilburn said Republican leadership cannot just “ignore these two radical Republicans.”

“They must make it clear that the two of them are not welcome in Iowa,” Wilburn added.

Republican leaders have been largely quiet regarding the visit. Sen. Chuck Grassley said he would not walk around the fair with Taylor Greene.
