Republican Sen. Steve Daines has called for President Joe Biden to resign the presidency after Biden announced he is not seeking re-election. Daines wrote that if Biden isn’t capable of running for re-election, “he is no longer capable of serving as President.”

“Being President is the hardest job in the world, and I no longer have confidence that Joe Biden can effectively execute his duties as Commander-in-Chief,” Daines said. “It is out of concern for our country’s national security that I am formally calling on President Biden to resign from office.”

In addition, Daines said the fact not a single Senate Democrat who served with Vice President Kamala Harris has called for her to replace Biden is “striking.”

“This leads me to believe they think she is unqualified to serve as Commander-in-Chief,” Daines said.
