On Thursday, the Kim Reynolds for Iowa Campaign released a campaign advertisement for the 2022 Election Cycle titled, “Stand.” The 30-second ad highlights Governor Reynolds’ 2022 Condition of the State Address, where all Democrats, Republicans, and Iowans in the chamber stood to recognize and applaud Iowa law enforcement, except Deidre DeJear, who remained seated.
During the Condition of the State Address, Gov. Reynolds decried the fact that, around the country, law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line were being treated like villains. “While we can’t fix attitudes in other states,” Gov. Reynolds said, “we can certainly let our officers—and officers across the country—know that in Iowa, they’re welcome and will receive the respect and support they deserve.” DeJear remained seated while the rest of the audience stood and honored law enforcement.
DeJear attended Reynolds’ 2022 Condition of the State Address as the guest of Democrat State Representative Chris Hall. Rep. Hall, an outspoken critic of Governor Reynolds and her policies, can be seen standing and applauding Iowa law enforcement to DeJear’s right in the television ad.

The ad will run statewide on cable, broadcast, online, and on digital streaming platforms.
